China's new renewable energy plans will target the Gobi and other desert regions, because it hastens the development of big new wind and alternative energy bases and boosts its transmission capabilities, regulators said during a new policy document.
To meet its climate targets, China - the world's biggest greenhouse emission emitter - is drawing up policies which will allow the "green and low-carbon transformation" of its energy system, which has traditionally been dominated by coal.

Beijing aims to bring total wind and solar capacity to 1,200 gigawatts (GW) by the top of 2030, almost double the present level, and can gradually phase down fuel use in an exceedingly bid to become carbon neutral by around 2060.
